About R.S.R. Marcroix
At the beginning...
Charles Ferdinand de Mortanges won the golden medal with his half-breed gelding Marcroix in an extremely heavy military during the Olympics of the year 1924. Inspired by Pahud, some gentleman of the Rotterdam Student Corps decided at the 16th of October to establish by association Marcroix. Even after more than 80 years this idea seems to be not that bad!
Present...
R.S.R. Marcroix is the association for all student horseback-riders of Rotterdam. We ride weekly on Thuesday evenings from 7 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the Rotterdamse Manège. Afterwards we usually have a drink at the clubhouse of the Jockey Club.
Besides the lessons we also organise lots of different activities such as rides through the forest or along the beach, competitions, members-weekend, Christmas dinner, drinks, and several more activities such as a visit to the annual CHIO.
Take a look at 'Activities' for our agenda and explanation of the upcoming activities.
Association...
R.S.R. Marcroix is a by association of the associations R.V.S.V., R.S.C. and V.N.S. and an 'club' of the Jockey Club. With regularity there are national (V.N.S.) and international (A.I.E.C.) student dressage- and jumping competitions. The national competitions are called 'cities meeting', these are organized by different student riding associations within the Netherlands. Take a look at the Marcroix cities meeting 2011!
